Starting an ED Practice in a Rural or Urban Area

Who

Dr. John Seip is an acute care and emergency department physical therapist working at Nantucket Cottage Hospital on Nantucket Island Massachusetts. John is a board certified orthopedic specialist and his areas of expertise are emergency department physical therapy practice, pain neuroscience, and vestibular.  When John is not at work he is with family, cycling, taking photos, or hanging out at the beach.

“Most patients seen by a PT in the ER are there for a perceived emergency. Education helps the patient understand their symptoms. Understanding calms symptoms, gives patients a locus of control, hope, and a path to start down.”

Episode Takeaways
